MINIMIZING DAMAGE TO SOCIETY

- Mass media should correct mistakes quickly and comprehensively. Corrections of significant mistakes should be published without delay in a publicly visible place.

- People criticized in the mass media should have the right to an immediate response. This response should not be accompanied by an editorial, polemic comment and should have its own sufficient volume. It should correspond to the essence of the subject matter and must be acceptable in its form.

- A journalist should behave in a manner that keeps them away from collusion with clear or hidden interests. He/she should reject privileges or presents which could influence opinion or create such an impression.

- Journalists should not take part in activities or join organisations which could limit their independence of thought or effect professional integrity.
