According to a news report from Triruwananthapuram, Actor Mohanlal apologized for his hasty reaction towards the journalist who sought his comments about the protest carried out by a group of nuns calling for the arrest of a Bishop who is facing rape charges.
Mohanlal calls this an ‘emotional reaction’ as the questions were posed to him amidst his flood relief efforts on Saturday 15th August where he was involved in sending out flood relief material to affected regions under an NGO named after his parents – the 'ViswaSanthi Foundation'.
When the reporter questioned him about his stand on the ongoing nun's protest issue, emotionally-charged Mohanlal had asked "Aren't you ashamed to ask such unnecessary questions while talking about such a good deed?"
The actor had also asked him of the connection between flood relief activities and the nun's issue.
In a Facebook post, the Mohanlal said his remarks were not intended to hurt any individual, institution or journalism.
In his Facebook clarification, the actor stated that the 'untimely question' was put through to him at a time he was briefing the media about the flood relief activities by the foundation.
"The question is relevant as it is one of the most discussing issues in the state at present. But I was not in a mood then to reply to that question. As a human being and as a son, I was in a different state of mind at that time. That's why such a reply came from me," he said.
The clarification from the actor came following the criticism that came from a group of people on social media for his response towards the ongoing distress by the nuns in Kochi, seeking justice for the nun who was victimized.
The nun has accused Bishop Franco Mulakkal of repeatedly sexually assaulting her between the years 2014 and 2016.
